Can you believe it!

Spring looks like it may stay for a while!

Cool mornings, warm afternoons and crisp evenings

must mean Spring!

Been working on a garden and have all but one section planted. Wanted to get that in before the rains came this weekend. Fence is up except for about 15 feet and the bunnies have been enjoying the flowers on some of my plants. Or could it be the pups? I have seen them over there sniffing around. Silly things love to eat new leaves and flowers for some reason. They all think they are bunnies I guess.

Here is the layout of my garden:

I planted tomatos; regular sized; in one triangle. In another I have jalapeno' and sweet banana peppers's well as three large bell peppers and two large tomotos. We love tomoatos, especially home grown ones; and these are cherry and grape tomotos. Also have some roma in there somewhere. LOL Then another triangle has five different lettuces and some brocolli seeds planted. Then around the base of the tree is all of my bush beans, lima, pinto and green beans. IF it works out right then I can have fresh salad everyday!! Come on over and enjoy one with me!

I have been stitching a little; not as much as in the past; partly because i spent most of last week working on the garden. I checked this morning and little romaine heads were peeking through!

I am almost finished with the banding that goes to a summery top that I am making. Was going to crochet the whole thing, but while shopping with Bonnie in Forever 21; found that they added a touch of crochet to the top and not the whole thing. So to keep it youthful, that is what I plan on doing. Will use some soft white crinkly fabric for the bodice and the body of the top. Hope to have it in the 'pinning the fabric stage' this week!

Traded Nina back for my dress form with another and I have measure her-Nancy (for Nancy Drew) against my actual measurements and will have to add a poof here and there so that she and I can be in sequence so that our clothes actually fit each other. LOL

Did a couple of cute little test patterns for a couple of designers last month, I think I said that then; but this month I am going to be doing a 'naughty' scarf. Its a scarf with taa-taas and when I am finished I will send gift wrapped to my sister at her office, hahahahaha what a laugh she will have!

Have the sewing bug, Thanks Nina, I cant wait to get to it, and I want to make me some things to wear. so tired of these floppy pants I have been wearing. Started wearing Kurts shorts so my legs can get caught up with my upper body, look like I have been dipped! hehehehe If it wasnt for my kids, I dont think I would get a lot of things done.

Was feeling pretty crummy this past weekend, but better today and so Bonnie and I start on our Spring Cleaning! Let the chaos begin!!

Hopefully we will make it out of this ok, but if not, please give all of my fabric and yarns (with necessary accompaniments) to Nina and she can do what she sees fit with them in her own due time. Dont let Dad for get to cash my two checks in my wallet and let the Mommies know that I will miss thier kiddos despite any experiences that have left them or me to think otherwise. Well I guess if you want to get technical; I WONT miss them, but you know what I mean. LOL

Make sure that Bonnie; if she survives; gets to work on time and buys me one of those floppy things to float around in the backyard in the air in rememberence of me. You know those things that they have blowing in the wind at the cell phone shops. hehehehe It will remind my family how flighty I was.

Finally give my love to all of my family that I havent seen in a while and I will see you all in the paradise.

So Grim. Lets get happy! Housework doesnt kill,

Until tomorrow!

Well another rainy day here at home, so the little ones and me cannot play outside. Boo-hoo they have so much fun running and playing and I have a lot of fun soaking up the sun and enjoying my crochet.

Oh well, can still enjoy the day in the house!

Lost another half a pound and did the crunches and situps last night as well as the free wights. I wonder how many inches I will melt away by 6 weeks?
Here is a virtual model of me now and after:

Me at 221Me at 165
I even like the haircuts! Who knows how close to the after I will be by June 2009.

Kurt bought me a new dishwasher and it is so quiet that I dont even know when it starts let alone finishes! How nice. No more hand washing, except for pots and pans and delicate stuff. YEA!
Put away the drain board and moved my bread machines over the the other cabinet, more light over there! Then moved the bread box and the soup tureen over to the other side with the napkin holder. Very nice and organized looking!

I am thinking about using the porch we have as a play house or fort for the little ones when we pour the concrete for the porches in the front, back and side. With some half railings and a slide, add a couple of steerring wheels and 'gear shifts' they will have a blast playing in there, especially on hot summer days.

The new little boy I am watching is such a cutie and a sweet heart. Loves playing in the videos and cassette tapes though. Will have to find a new home for all of them.....

Today I will be finishing up sewing the snaps on the barbie dress, assemble the umbrella and mail off the potholder and bookmark swap. Tomorrow my yarns from peaches and creme comes in I am sooo excited!

I am going to make a pumpkin custard, so i have something sweet that works as a carb and wont spoil my diet. Its really good cold!

Catch you all later, my washer just finished.

Well the crocheting of the skirt is done and now I have to find the fabric to make the underskirt!

Here is a pic of me working on it, LOL

Nina wants me to line it with a pretty beige fabric with tiny flowers on it. I dont think I have any of that so a trip to JoAnn's will have to be in order. What a shame! LOL

there is a space from the hip down that is open on the skirt that the fabric will be peeking out of. Cant wait to see it finished. Already planning my next skirt, thought I had found a pattern for a large scarf that would make a beautiful skirt but it is knitted and I dont do knit ... yet.

Started back on my diet with Provida and after 1 1/2 weeks have lost 5.5 pounds and 9.25 inches! Yea, cant wait to start making those cute little tops and things to wear this summer!!

See you later, I have more 'amazing' things to tell you soon!

DeeDee

Well, joining many groups on Ravelry, adding designers to my list of friends, fun way to get cute ideas when I see what patterns they have favored, and joining a bunch of fun groups.

I want to learn to design my own creations, so I figure the more I surround myself with creative people the more I will learn!

March is a busy month fo rme with swaps. I had a potholder swap, a barbie swap and a bookmark swap as well as a threads swap.

Made up a barbie dress using the same stitch I used on my skirt for her skirt. Made an umbrella using a paradise pattern, and a hat using another pattern. Will find it and let you know what it is. I received some fun fur last month in my Barbie swap from Tammi so I incorporated it into the dress, hat and umbrella. Cute!

For the potholder swap I made a scrubbie, and a dishtowel as well as a potholder. I hope she likes them! I used bernat white with the green and red (from xmas yarns) spots scattered here and there. I like it so much that I am going to make some for me too!

For the bookmark swap I made a mile-a-minute bookmark and then a self-designed daisy bookmark. Just need to find a cute kitty to include in her gift!

Cant wait to show you the pictures of all of it! Will have to send off the potholder swap quickly because I forgot I was supposed to mail it off by the 15th and if she doesnt receive it by the end of the month well I have to sit out any swaps next month. :-(

Catch on the next post!

Test Crocheting?

Yea that what I said, I am test crocheting!

1st there is this cute little top, I am making for Caitlynn and then going to make some crisp white capris for her with embroidery on the legs, at the open hemline.

It will be for her to wear to her Granny Penny's in Virginia. She is supposed to spend the whole summer (I have to see this) up at Penny's house. I hope she can do it. Four days away from her daddy is all she can take with me and I live about 45 minutes away. LOL

Here is the flower design I am thinking of digitizing for her pants:

I'll have to change the colors of course, to softer hues but she will look great anyways! I think I will make some soft pink shorts to wear as an optional pant in case it is hot over at Disneyworld. Thats where Penny is taking her.

Then I am going to make a dress that has Solomon's knots in it. A very cute dress and looks pretty simple! I think I am going to love this test crocheting. Will post pics when the designers say its ok.

Off on another posts later!

You gotta check this out!

Wednesday, February 25, 2009

I got some new books at the bookstore Monday when Morgan and Bonnie were shopping at the mall. Il ove to go to Books-a-Million and read the new magazines and crochet while I am there.

I got this:

WOW sich a great book and I cant wait to try out the patterns inside! Here is the link to Annie's Attic where they have the book for sale.

I also got this book:

Even though I dont know how to knit YET, it has crochet and knitting stitches inside and it gives the name and the drape and skill level and easy clear directions. I have already been playing with a few of the stitches! Cant wait to someone.... ummmm..... teaches me how to knit!

I also got a book on clay making. Plan on making my Barbie some things, hehehehe. Like an umbrella staff to put the crocheted umbrella on. Made with bedspread weight yearn and a fun fur in blues and greens for the poufy top it will be like those Paradise collections umbrellas, closed of course! LOL

The next book I want to get is this one:

But I will have to wait until next month. Hey next month is right around the corner!!! I can feel it in my hands as we type and read! LOL It looks to have many wonderful things in it as well to make! WOW Amazon.com has it for 15.61!! Wow so great! I may be ordering it from them. Why I didnt save some funds and get the other books from there I will not know. Oh well, bookstores need supporting too!
Well gotta go, Kurt and Bonnie are home and Bonnie did get dirty (a little) :-) LOL and supper is being asked about. Soooo I guess I will have to forgo my bath for now and start super. Oh well, good things come to those who wait!

Here is a Cowl-Neck Sweater I made using a pattern from E-Patterns. Just click Here to get the pattern too, worth the 1.99 you pay to make this very easy, very cute top!

Here is my most wonderful husband Kurt showing off his new Earflap / Lumberjack hat! Made it as a rememberance of him getting his very 1st deer this year! Way To Go Kurt!! You can get the pattern Here too. It came out in Jan/Feb issue of Crochet Today magazine!

This is a cute jacket that was a Mystery Crochet Along, in a yahoo group I am on with the same name Crochet-along. LOL Check us out it is fun and you work at your own pace. This was origionally hosted by Janet and then by Dena. I have fallen on love with baby colors, can you tell? Not sure of the pattern, I dont think they ever posted the weblink for the pattern. I will have to remember to ask about that. But here is the link to the YahooGroup Crochet-Along. Check it out and join us for the fun!

This is a beret and scarf I made for the Vanna's Choice Contest. I got my entry in just barely under the wire, hehehehe, I kept changing my mind about the stitches. Personal pattern here and I would have to look at it to see what I did. I call it Scalloping Treasures! I love this green color and it is VERY warm! Kurt even tried it on and he looked just like and Englishman! :-)

Here is Naomi's completed sweater to go with her hat, a beret full of scallops too! I got the pattern Here and even though it is British Pounds it is still under 3.00 for the pattern and she has a wonderful selection of patterns for babies through women. I am going to be starting a shrug soon in a cool butter yellow yarn! Yummy!

Here is my latest craze! Barbie clothes! Yes, much to the surprise of my girls, though they should know be by now, I have started making Barbie clothes. Why you ask? Well for many reasons!

1. I LOVE Barbie's and thier clothing. Even to the point of playing with them, if I so choose.

2. Caitlynn is almost Barbie loving age and so if I start now making cute clothes for her and me by the time she is old enough to appreciate them, I will have a ton of clothes for her. Did it for my three girls and I will do it for her as well!

3. This was for a Barbie Swap on an Atmyhouse yahoo group I am on and though it was my first pineapple pattern I dont think I did too bad on it. what do you think? Right now I am making some vintage style tops, one in particular that is sleeveless, with just shoulder straps and buttons to close the front. All out of white #10 bedspread weight cotton. By using different stitch techniques, I am making a bunch of different tops by using the same pattern. Will try to dye some, though cotton seems to be one of the hardest to dye, especially the thread weight, from what I have read.

Will post my finished product after a couple of weeks. I mean who am I fooling, I dont blog very often at all. No time for it!
This is the beginning of Fingerless Mitten Gloves for Kurt to match his Lumberjack Hat. Here is the pattern link for the gloves Here. Am actually a little farther than shown here just havent uploaded the pics yet. Shame on me! Next winter when he goes hunting I know for sure that his hands and his head will be exceptionally warm! And he loves it, so what more can I ask for? They are very cool with the fingers missing except right around the base, so that they can grab hold of stuff without the gloves getting in the way. and then it has a mitten coverlet so they can cover up fingers after they are through with whatever they were doing so they will stay toasty warm! Check out the pattern! Very Easy!

This is another Crochet Along with my yahoogroup that I did and it turn out so light and fluffy and cute! AND I found out that Marnie is having a baby girl!!!!! So Nina get your hooks and needles going we have a baby girl to dress! My picture made it to the groups homepage! I was so honored.

Here is the back of the dress with the panties. I made another pair but forgot to upload its picture too. So check back and see what the other pair of panties look like as well! Here is the pattern for this cute little dress, panties and booties!

Well that is about it! See I told you I have been very busy!

The weather is getting warmer and more spring like. Bonnie has started cleaning out the pool and the little boy I keep and me were playing in the sandpile today! You should have seen him climbing to the top and sliding on his belly to the bottom only to flip halfway down and roll the rest of the way! Forgot my camera so I will have to take pics tomorrow, but for security purposes I wont be showing them here. :-( Just believe me it was great fun and one of his friends lives down the street and we have a playdate on Friday morning to play outside and in the sand and all! How much fun is that!

Tomorrow we both (him and me) are going to finish painting a box to look like Blues Clues house and play in the sand some more. I see a bath in his future over here tomorrow! LOL

Some of the crochet projects I am currently working on are, but havent told you about are:

1: Barbie tops in various stitches combinations

2: Kurts fingerless gloves

3: A skirt for me (tried it last week and finished the top part and inserted the zipper BUT it looks so iffy (nice way of saying trashy) that I am going to try again using less of the worsted weight and a different stitch.

4: Butter Yellow Shrug Go almost to the bottom and its called Ladies Shrug Pattern No.208 Product Ref: 463 Really cute!

And here are a couple of projects I have not taken pics of yet but finished them and wore them to our meetings. I figure if I make something crocheted to wear to Every Tuesday night meeting then I will have made at least 52 crocheted wearables, for the year. Ranging from berets, scarfs, vests, shrugs, tops, jackets, skirts and maybe a dress. Who knows what I will tackle next!

1: a 60's vest made with bone caron yarn. Here is the pattern link.

2: A black, pink and white beret and belt. Using those big circles you find for curtain rings (about 3" I think) and crocheted around each one and then a little on the side and then all together. Wore it last night but think I am going to frog the connecting crocheted areas and just make a belt out of the three colors and then weave it through the circles. I think that will look so much better. Personal pattern using puffs, scallops and single and double crochets.

Well I am outta here!
Finshed updating my blog, now to clean up after the little man and take a shower and relax a bit with my crocheting before Kurt and Bonnie come home from working on the tractor at the shop. I know! Bonnie is getting dirty working on the tractor with Kurt!

hugs to you all!

Cant believe it has been two weeks already! What have I been up too?

1st and foremost some volunteer work which is very near and dear to me. Then there is the kids I watch, busy little things are getting busier and busier!

As for my stitching I started a new top before our trip to Dallas and am about 1/2way complete. Here is the pattern information:

Will post a pic next week sometime, hopefully! You know how that goes.

Also got all of my supplies for the sweater jacket for Naomi, will begin that soon!! Its going to be pink and lined with fleece. I posted the pattern on the last blog but couldnt figure out the instructions... hmmm I need to get out more often.... linguistically speaking that is.

The new pattern will be changed with the ruffle from the last one on the neckline and sleeves and I will be using frog closures instead of a zipper.

Here is what the new pattern looks like. Check out this site! She has some wonderful designs there and not at a bad price either!!

Here is a link to my Sensaria Site. There are a lot of great products and if you want to receive FREE items then give me a call or an email and I will be more than happy to come over and pamper your friends!!
No time for a party? Then do a book party! Just ask me how.

I want to make eye masks and footies for the guests so I had better get back to making them. Will post pics and paterns when I get more time. Bonnie's party is next weekend!
