Socks by Granny

The socks may be by Granny, but the lil one is a gift from her parents!

Aubri is getting to be such a big girl. She rolled over from her tummy to her back for the first time. Lol, well at least over at her Grannys house.

She is intrigued by everything, loves playing with her light up and musical toys, and she's getting where she turns her head to see the picture you just snapped up. :)

Little ones are just so smart and advanced nowadays.

New toys to enjoy

Here is 56 assorted crochet hooks. Yep 56!

pretty much quarantees that I will have the correct hook for my project no matter where I am. Lol

I also won a HUGE lot of knitting and more crochet hooks. Awww man this is wonderful!! My most recent win is a needle felting kit with wool roving. I have been eyeing all of the wonderful creations on Ravelry for sometime and finally decided to take the plunge. Heheheee also have some other colors of wool roving I'm bidding on, we will see how that goes. :D

Started on a grey wool jumper for Miss Aubri today, maybe I'll be finished by the time the chill in the air gets here. After its made will make a little pink top with a peter pan collar. CUTE!!

Well thats all for now!

DeeDee

ps: on a side note..... All of my way to tardy swaps are now shipped!!! Yea and thanks to my wonderful partners for being so patient with me. ;)

Updates!

1st update is that my youngest is engaged!

Here is the young couple to be:

Aren't they just too cute!?!

Next update is Nina and Nathan's house is well on it way and that means just a couple of more months and then they will be down the street from us!

Next update is Kimmy is taking more classes to get her Bachlor's Degree!!

WOW I am surely blessed by all of my girls!

No onto the crocheting updates:

My All Shawl is almost complete. Here is the latest pics of it. Just need to add the lace and then the blocking.

Here is it fully laid out on the coffee table.

Here it is folded in half.

Working on a test neck warmer and as soon as I get the placement for the buttons it will be finished!

Here are the pre-pic of it:

It is actually a soft baby green, made in Bernat green yarn, but the photo doesnt show it that well. Better pictures to come!

Started on the Bombay Top that is in my September lists of To Do's. Still need to post pictures of the eye masks and i will be starting on a knitted cap for Connor to wear. My first knitted cap. It will be made of Sensations 100% wool in green variegated.

Already have used it to make a soap sweater, Kurt's still getting used to it, plan on making several of those. Very easy! Photos are coming of the soap sweater.

Knit up a rectangle (I used just the garter stitch, though you could use any design pattern) and then sew up the side and one bottom. Turn inside out and then insert your soap, stitch up the final edge and your done. As you use it the friction and hot water will felt the wool and it will shrink with the soap. I use it to soap up my wash cloth.

Some habits are hard to break.

Does give lots of bubbles! I love lots of bubbles!!

Started it back over this evening and it is coming along really nicely! Sleep and closer reading and following the directions are always a plus!

This is at 7pm:

This is at 9:40 pm

Still have a way to go before I can wear it to the meeting tomorrow night, BUT, its getting there! And I have decided to wear a brown skirt with a white sleeveless top and this scarf draped around me. Will snap up a picture and let you see the finished project!!

until next time!

September is now here and Autumn days are coming, I know it just feels like it.

In honour of the new month I made up an eye mask, using a sleep mask on ravelry as an inspiration I crocheted it up and made closed eyelashes on it.

Here is Kurt modeling it for me:

Here is the pattern:

Ch 38 using a g hook

Crochet singles across until the piece measures 3 inches,

(though you could actually make it two inches so that it fits better, I just like mine to really cover my eyes so that no light gets in.)

Fold piece in half and crochet a row of singles around the entire piece twice. Then on each short end crochet 3 rows of singles with slip stitches on the long ends.

(Make 2) Chain 30  (or a length you like for tying) and slip stitch on the next row. Tie off leaving a tail and then tie each tail to a top and a bottom corner on each end of the mask.

Embroider black eyelashes (or any other design of your liking) with a small amount of yarn or embroidery floss.

Walaa an easy sleep mask!

Here is the completed baby onesie ( the snaps will be added soon). Now I need to decide how to embellish it a little. Looks a little plain to me, but then it might not to a new Mommy though.

Today Bonnie and I took Cambell to the park by Nina and Nathan's new house. We had so much fun playing and it wasnt long before the cool fan and snuggly covers made us comfy and fast asleep!
Tomorrow is another day of crocheting, hopefully finishing up the squares and making a cute owl mask for Bonnie.

Nina and I are going to go pattern shopping at JoAnn's this weekend. If you love sewing or even if you love collecting patterns (both of which I am guilty) Vogue, McCalls and Simplicity patterns are all on sale!

Well thats it for the 1st day of September! September 2nd I worked onthe Summer Blues Squares Swap, packaged up almost half and just need to finish the other half of the squares and mail off. I have received many lovely squares and plan on making some cute lap-afghans out of them!

New Books!!

We went to dinner last night with Nathan and Nina at Carmela's and had a wonderful visit! Afterwards Bonnie, Kurt and I went to Barnes and Nobles to look at magazines and I took a peek at the books too. This is what I got last night!

Of course I promised not to buy anymore books until I made at least one outfit from each book so that means I need to get busy crocheting and knitting, LOL

Today, since I am ahead on my volunteer hours this month, I am going to do some re-organizing of the house. But I just had to tell you about my new books first! If you click on the photos it will take you to Amazon.com where you can buy your own copy. I highly recommend them! They have some very cute and easy paterns in there!

Have a great weekend!

Here is Sophia's baby sister's Madeline Rose, outfit I made for her. The shorts are purchased but they match perfectly. I was so happy to find them and include them with her gift. Sophia is so funny!! We got her some Snow White red gloves and a purse with goodies in it and she had the best fun putting them on and posing for us. And the baby is too too cute!! Can't wait to love on her some more in the near future!

Here is the crochet top I was testing in the last post, all finished up. The Caron Eco yarn is sooo soft and even though I was afraid I was going to feel stiff and hot in this, surprisingly I was cool and comfortable. I would gladly make this again, and it took about 20 hours total to make. Pretty and easy to make! Try it out, you'll be glad you did. Its called Paris in the Spring, and you can find the pattern on Ravelry.

My first knitting project is a test garment for a new designer. I am not suppose to let any pics or details about it out yet, but I can ell you that it is working up quickly! I LOVE circular needles!

Kurt has been going back and forth bringing dirt to Nina and Nathan's land and Ryan has been busily spreading it out. I am sure once they get back from their race in San Fransisco they will be really excited to see the progress made! They get temporary lights installed soon so that means that they will be working into the dark sometimes.

Bonnie is working her 1st 6 hour shift! Yesterday she worked her 1st morning shift and the funny thing is she went in on Thursday thinking it was that day when it was Friday. hehehehe To be 18 and have a first job. I remember those days!!

August is around the corner and I will be losing one little one but spending more time out in my volunteer work with my friends! I am so excited!

Another thing I am excited about it I finally sent off the last two traveling scarves to their owners and now I am through! yippee lets celebrate! I love doing round robins, but when you factor in the money spent, over 100 dollars, on a scarf is kind of wasteful in this day and age of job losses and all. Its pretty and I love all of the hard work and will wear it with much pride and delight, but the cost factor is disappointing.

Will be knitting and finishing up my Dollie for a Dollie swap. I want to mail her off on Monday! Will post pics after she has received her Dollie. Just in case she pops over to see if I have posted anything on her. :-)

Gotta go now!

Well the crocheting of the skirt is done and now I have to find the fabric to make the underskirt!

Here is a pic of me working on it, LOL

Nina wants me to line it with a pretty beige fabric with tiny flowers on it. I dont think I have any of that so a trip to JoAnn's will have to be in order. What a shame! LOL

there is a space from the hip down that is open on the skirt that the fabric will be peeking out of. Cant wait to see it finished. Already planning my next skirt, thought I had found a pattern for a large scarf that would make a beautiful skirt but it is knitted and I dont do knit ... yet.

Started back on my diet with Provida and after 1 1/2 weeks have lost 5.5 pounds and 9.25 inches! Yea, cant wait to start making those cute little tops and things to wear this summer!!

See you later, I have more 'amazing' things to tell you soon!

I got some new books at the bookstore Monday when Morgan and Bonnie were shopping at the mall. Il ove to go to Books-a-Million and read the new magazines and crochet while I am there.

I got this:

WOW sich a great book and I cant wait to try out the patterns inside! Here is the link to Annie's Attic where they have the book for sale.

I also got this book:

Even though I dont know how to knit YET, it has crochet and knitting stitches inside and it gives the name and the drape and skill level and easy clear directions. I have already been playing with a few of the stitches! Cant wait to someone.... ummmm..... teaches me how to knit!

I also got a book on clay making. Plan on making my Barbie some things, hehehehe. Like an umbrella staff to put the crocheted umbrella on. Made with bedspread weight yearn and a fun fur in blues and greens for the poufy top it will be like those Paradise collections umbrellas, closed of course! LOL

The next book I want to get is this one:

But I will have to wait until next month. Hey next month is right around the corner!!! I can feel it in my hands as we type and read! LOL It looks to have many wonderful things in it as well to make! WOW Amazon.com has it for 15.61!! Wow so great! I may be ordering it from them. Why I didnt save some funds and get the other books from there I will not know. Oh well, bookstores need supporting too!
Well gotta go, Kurt and Bonnie are home and Bonnie did get dirty (a little) :-) LOL and supper is being asked about. Soooo I guess I will have to forgo my bath for now and start super. Oh well, good things come to those who wait!

Here is a Cowl-Neck Sweater I made using a pattern from E-Patterns. Just click Here to get the pattern too, worth the 1.99 you pay to make this very easy, very cute top!

Here is my most wonderful husband Kurt showing off his new Earflap / Lumberjack hat! Made it as a rememberance of him getting his very 1st deer this year! Way To Go Kurt!! You can get the pattern Here too. It came out in Jan/Feb issue of Crochet Today magazine!

This is a cute jacket that was a Mystery Crochet Along, in a yahoo group I am on with the same name Crochet-along. LOL Check us out it is fun and you work at your own pace. This was origionally hosted by Janet and then by Dena. I have fallen on love with baby colors, can you tell? Not sure of the pattern, I dont think they ever posted the weblink for the pattern. I will have to remember to ask about that. But here is the link to the YahooGroup Crochet-Along. Check it out and join us for the fun!

This is a beret and scarf I made for the Vanna's Choice Contest. I got my entry in just barely under the wire, hehehehe, I kept changing my mind about the stitches. Personal pattern here and I would have to look at it to see what I did. I call it Scalloping Treasures! I love this green color and it is VERY warm! Kurt even tried it on and he looked just like and Englishman! :-)

Here is Naomi's completed sweater to go with her hat, a beret full of scallops too! I got the pattern Here and even though it is British Pounds it is still under 3.00 for the pattern and she has a wonderful selection of patterns for babies through women. I am going to be starting a shrug soon in a cool butter yellow yarn! Yummy!

Here is my latest craze! Barbie clothes! Yes, much to the surprise of my girls, though they should know be by now, I have started making Barbie clothes. Why you ask? Well for many reasons!

1. I LOVE Barbie's and thier clothing. Even to the point of playing with them, if I so choose.

2. Caitlynn is almost Barbie loving age and so if I start now making cute clothes for her and me by the time she is old enough to appreciate them, I will have a ton of clothes for her. Did it for my three girls and I will do it for her as well!

3. This was for a Barbie Swap on an Atmyhouse yahoo group I am on and though it was my first pineapple pattern I dont think I did too bad on it. what do you think? Right now I am making some vintage style tops, one in particular that is sleeveless, with just shoulder straps and buttons to close the front. All out of white #10 bedspread weight cotton. By using different stitch techniques, I am making a bunch of different tops by using the same pattern. Will try to dye some, though cotton seems to be one of the hardest to dye, especially the thread weight, from what I have read.

Will post my finished product after a couple of weeks. I mean who am I fooling, I dont blog very often at all. No time for it!
This is the beginning of Fingerless Mitten Gloves for Kurt to match his Lumberjack Hat. Here is the pattern link for the gloves Here. Am actually a little farther than shown here just havent uploaded the pics yet. Shame on me! Next winter when he goes hunting I know for sure that his hands and his head will be exceptionally warm! And he loves it, so what more can I ask for? They are very cool with the fingers missing except right around the base, so that they can grab hold of stuff without the gloves getting in the way. and then it has a mitten coverlet so they can cover up fingers after they are through with whatever they were doing so they will stay toasty warm! Check out the pattern! Very Easy!

This is another Crochet Along with my yahoogroup that I did and it turn out so light and fluffy and cute! AND I found out that Marnie is having a baby girl!!!!! So Nina get your hooks and needles going we have a baby girl to dress! My picture made it to the groups homepage! I was so honored.

Here is the back of the dress with the panties. I made another pair but forgot to upload its picture too. So check back and see what the other pair of panties look like as well! Here is the pattern for this cute little dress, panties and booties!

Well that is about it! See I told you I have been very busy!

The weather is getting warmer and more spring like. Bonnie has started cleaning out the pool and the little boy I keep and me were playing in the sandpile today! You should have seen him climbing to the top and sliding on his belly to the bottom only to flip halfway down and roll the rest of the way! Forgot my camera so I will have to take pics tomorrow, but for security purposes I wont be showing them here. :-( Just believe me it was great fun and one of his friends lives down the street and we have a playdate on Friday morning to play outside and in the sand and all! How much fun is that!

Tomorrow we both (him and me) are going to finish painting a box to look like Blues Clues house and play in the sand some more. I see a bath in his future over here tomorrow! LOL

Some of the crochet projects I am currently working on are, but havent told you about are:

1: Barbie tops in various stitches combinations

2: Kurts fingerless gloves

3: A skirt for me (tried it last week and finished the top part and inserted the zipper BUT it looks so iffy (nice way of saying trashy) that I am going to try again using less of the worsted weight and a different stitch.

4: Butter Yellow Shrug Go almost to the bottom and its called Ladies Shrug Pattern No.208 Product Ref: 463 Really cute!

And here are a couple of projects I have not taken pics of yet but finished them and wore them to our meetings. I figure if I make something crocheted to wear to Every Tuesday night meeting then I will have made at least 52 crocheted wearables, for the year. Ranging from berets, scarfs, vests, shrugs, tops, jackets, skirts and maybe a dress. Who knows what I will tackle next!

1: a 60's vest made with bone caron yarn. Here is the pattern link.

2: A black, pink and white beret and belt. Using those big circles you find for curtain rings (about 3" I think) and crocheted around each one and then a little on the side and then all together. Wore it last night but think I am going to frog the connecting crocheted areas and just make a belt out of the three colors and then weave it through the circles. I think that will look so much better. Personal pattern using puffs, scallops and single and double crochets.

Well I am outta here!
Finshed updating my blog, now to clean up after the little man and take a shower and relax a bit with my crocheting before Kurt and Bonnie come home from working on the tractor at the shop. I know! Bonnie is getting dirty working on the tractor with Kurt!

hugs to you all!

Cant believe it has been two weeks already! What have I been up too?

1st and foremost some volunteer work which is very near and dear to me. Then there is the kids I watch, busy little things are getting busier and busier!

As for my stitching I started a new top before our trip to Dallas and am about 1/2way complete. Here is the pattern information:

Will post a pic next week sometime, hopefully! You know how that goes.

Also got all of my supplies for the sweater jacket for Naomi, will begin that soon!! Its going to be pink and lined with fleece. I posted the pattern on the last blog but couldnt figure out the instructions... hmmm I need to get out more often.... linguistically speaking that is.

The new pattern will be changed with the ruffle from the last one on the neckline and sleeves and I will be using frog closures instead of a zipper.

Here is what the new pattern looks like. Check out this site! She has some wonderful designs there and not at a bad price either!!

Here is a link to my Sensaria Site. There are a lot of great products and if you want to receive FREE items then give me a call or an email and I will be more than happy to come over and pamper your friends!!
No time for a party? Then do a book party! Just ask me how.

I want to make eye masks and footies for the guests so I had better get back to making them. Will post pics and paterns when I get more time. Bonnie's party is next weekend!

Thursday, November 20, 2008

This past two weeks have flown by! Between watching little ones, meetings, field service, family we have also had Caleb staying a week with us and Caitlynn stayed over the weekend since she is in school now. :-)

I finished my Mystery CAL, hosted by Janet and it was the cutest bag. The pattern is from Caron simply Soft Yarn Company and it is called Two Toned Tote. Here is the pattern link:

Here is my version using dark sage and bone yarns. Still need to put the lining and the plastic canvas in the bottom, but isnt it just cute! Just the right size for bringing with me when I travel with a small project!

Now I am starting on a sweater/jacket for Noami. She is almost a year and the daughter of a friends daughter, Courtney. I am using Bernat Softee Baby in Pink Rose and will trim in the white.

Here is the pattern link:

As you can see from this picture there is a dress as well and I might tackle that one after the jacket, hat and shoes are done. We will see.

Been busy with the kids and Caitlynn and Caleb came for a vist. In fact Caitlynn went to go and see the new James Bond movie with Kurt, Bonnie, Nina and Nathan and me. Guess she is used to James Bond action, because she fell asleep halfway through the movie. LOL

Here we are going to the movie and at the theater:

Caitlynn with her movie ticket:

And in the theater hugging a display:

Well thats about it for this week. See you later!
